Check-ins on Mesh is a way to update the progress on your Key Results (KRs). This eliminates the need for conducting meetings for your manager to know about your progress/ status updates on your deliverables. All check-ins are recorded on Mesh so your manager can easily check the progress of work, whenever they want.
On Mesh, check-ins can be done via the following 3 sections,
- Mesh List
- Goals tab
- Goal Insights tab
But irrespective of where you're doing your check-in from, the process doesn't really change, with the only difference being that while a manager will have access to all the three sections, an employee will only have access to the first two.
Let's look at how to go about checking-in on your KRs,
- Via the Mesh List
Step 1: On the Mesh homepage, go to the Mesh List on the right hand side and scroll to Goals.
Step 2: Click on the KR on which you wish to check-in. This will open up a window from the right-hand side containing every detail about the KR.
Step 3: Under the Progress section, click on the slider or drag it to your desired number up until you wish to indicate as achieved. This will open up the check-in box in which you can fill up the precise number as well as update the status of the KR (optional) from the drop-down. Once done, hit on check-in.
Alternatively, you can simply click on the achievement and update the figure. Once done, hit enter and your check-in will be done.
- Goals tab
Especially for managers, a benefit of doing your check-ins from the Goals tab is that you can easily sort through your Goals via a number of sorting options provided.
These are,
- Objective - Group only those Goals that have been tagged under a particular Objective.
- Employee Name - See the Goals of a particular employee only.
- Last Activity - All the Goals that have experienced some activity between a given duration.
- Primary Pod - Only those Goals that are part of a particular Pod.
- On-Track - All Goals that are likely to meet their deadlines.
- Off-Track - All Goals that aren't likely to meet their deadlines.
- At-Risk - All Goals that are at a risk of not being completed on time at all.
- Closed - All Goals that have been completed.
Coming to the check-in process now, even from the Goals tab, it's very much similar to how it's done from the Mesh List. However, there will be a slight difference in the UI and the initial steps depending on the view you're in. There are three types of views - Card, List and Tree, and you can read more about the views in detail here.
Card View - This will show you the Goals arranged employee-wise and you can click on any Goal to open the same right-sided panel for the check-in.
List View - This will first show you all the Objectives, clicking on which, you'll be able to see the Goals tagged under them. The normal check-in process follows.
Tree View - Clicking on any of the branches (Objectives) will open a dropdown of all the Goals tagged to the Objective. The normal check-in process follows. - Objective - Group only those Goals that have been tagged under a particular Objective.
- Goal Insights tab
Accessible to only managers and admins, the check-in process (as well as the view) from the Goals Insights tab is identical to that of the List View of the Goals tab.
