On top of the module-specific access that companies can give to their admins courtesy of the admin access setting, the access control setting helps admins give granularized access to only sub-sections of the dashboard inside individual modules.
This will help restrict employees from accessing any critical or sensitive data on the organization/ peers without depriving them from even looking at their own performance. This customization can be done for employees across functions and even locations.
The way this works is,
Step 1: Go to Me >> Settings >> Platform >> Access Control. Click on the "Create Custom Access" blue CTA to be directed to the access control form.
Step 2: Enter a name for the access in the "Access Name" field. This should ideally be something that encapsulates either the function of the employee or the dashboard sub-section.
Step 3: Next, select the appropriate functions and locations across which the access should be in effect. Even if you do not have your locations defined on Mesh, you can still create the access with just the function.
Step 4: Next, check the module, the access to whose insights, you wish to give to the concerned employee and hit save.
Step 5: You'll now see the access you just created under the Custom Access Name column and an "Add" option with a "+ button", under the Access Members column.
Step 6: Hit the button and a panel will open from the right side with a search box to look for employees you wish to add to that particular access. Just clicking on an employee will add them to the access and upon closing the panel, you'll be able to view the employees under the Custom Access Name column.
Here's a GIF of access control in action.
You can also edit the access parameters (function, location or dashboard element), add or remove an employee from a particular access or even delete an access by clicking on the three dots at the end of the row in the access list.
Note: In this first version, we've opened access control for only insights. In the subsequent versions, we will release controls for the other parts of the dashboard as well.
