For the Mesh feed, we wanted to build something that people today are already familiar with and which wouldn't require a steep learning curve. Hence, Mesh's feed is inspired by today's popular social media networks, which is something most of us, if not all, are already accustomed to.
There are 3 parts to the Mesh feed,
- The Sharing Box
On top of the feed there's the sharing box which can be used by anyone to create public posts for a variety of reasons like, appreciating teammates, uploading funny pictures/ GIFs, put in words of encouragement, etc. Clicking on the box will open a pop-up window where you can create your public/ private posts.
This is how the pop-up window appears.
As can be seen, while creating a post, you can use "@" to tag anyone from within your organization as well as use "#" to include a competency (listed just above the post CTA) in your post. These competencies are created by your admins and you can view a list of all the competencies above the "post" button as denoted in the above image.
For the simple act of appreciating someone, you can either directly click on "Praise" (as shown below) from outside the sharing box or enable it inside the post via the toggle button.
Similarly, while giving advice to someone, you can click on the "Give Advice" button outside the box or click on the field. In both cases, the pop-up window will open to start creating your post, however, one limitation is that whatever advice you post from here, the default visibility of those will be set to "manager + receiver". If you want to change the visibility of your advice, you can do so by sharing advice from the Continuous Feedback section inside the Review module. - The Nudge Cards
Nudge cards are, in essence, reminders for your upcoming activities. These reminders can include, a goal which hasn't been updated in a long time, 1:1s scheduled over the next week, surveys/ reviews you've been invited to fill, etc. These will be the first to appear on your feed owing to the more urgent actions and these cards carry a relevant call-to-action (CTA) button to redirect you to the activity page which requires your attention.
Below are a couple of examples of how the nudge cards look like. - The Feed Updates
The updates on the feed, similar to how the feeds of the social media networks function, outline all the updates people are making at your organization. This could be a manager appreciating her team member for a flawless execution, an employee high-fiving a colleague for a fruitful collaboration on a project, an executive updating their goals, etc.
Every employee in the company has their own personalized feed where they can view these public as well as private updates. Private updates, for example, include a constructive feedback shared by a senior leader to an employee and their manager. Such things are private and will only be visible either on the concerned person's feed or on the concerned person and their manager's feeds, entirely depending on the choice of the feedback giver.
Below is an example of a feed update,
All automatic updates on the Mesh feed carry options to like, praise and add comments, and the comments again carry options to add images, GIFs and emojis similar to the sharing box.
Below is the list of events for which you'll be notified on your social feed,
- Goal created
- Goal Comment - Manual Comment
- Goal comment - As a Praise
- Goal - Achieved Value Update
- Goal - Status Update
- Initiative created

Another thing to note here is that if your Mesh is connected to your organization's communications software like Slack or MS Teams, then everytime anyone tags you in a comment, you'll receive a notification on the communications tool as well.
