Suppose you're beginning a new review cycle at your company and you wish to use the same Objectives you had earlier created for previous review cycles. So rather than creating new Objectives from scratch, you can copy any of the earlier objectives in a single click and clone them for your upcoming cycle.
We call this Time-bound Objectives and the first step in the process is to finalize on the frequency of your Objectives and the start month. Both can be done by going to Settings under Goals.
There are two use cases for cloning the Objectives,
Cloning individual Objectives from previous cycles
Step 1: Once you’re done creating a new cycle, select the cycle from the dropdown whose objectives you wish to clone.
Step 2: Then just hover on any objective to find a symbol with three dots at the right end of it. Click on this to find another dropdown with the option “clone”. Click on it.
Step 3: This will open a dialog box where you’ll have to select the timeline for the latest cycle (assuming that’s where you wish to be using your old objectives), objective level and if you wish to clone it with its sub-objectives as well.
Hit save and you’re good to go. Checkout the below gif for the process.

Cloning entire objective structure from previous cycles
The process for importing the entire objective tree from a previous cycle is all the more easy.
Step 1: Go to the latest cycle for which you want to import objectives. Below is how your screen will look like.
Step 2: Click on the timeline dropdown to select the cycle from which you want to import the entire objective tree and hit the “import past objectives” button.
And that’s it. All the objectives from the previous cycle will be copied to your current cycle.
Renaming/ Replacing Objectives
Apart from cloning the Objectives, there's also a possibility of renaming and replacing (when the names has already been used in a previous quarter) the Objectives if and when admins choose to do so. The way this works is, suppose objective A needs to be renamed to B.
- If B exists in current cycle - you cannot assign that name.
- If B exists in another cycle - you have to use replace functionality.
- If B does not exist - renaming A in current cycle will change in across
Note: While Objectives is accessible by both Managers and Admins, Settings is accessible by Admins only.
